Amtrak Announces Nationwide Discounts for Summer Travel

Amtrak has introduced a significant Summer Travel Flash Sale, offering at least a 30% discount on Flex Fare prices for travel across most of its routes. This promotion, running from now until May 16, 2024, is set to cover travel dates from June 1 to August 30, 2024, including during peak summer travel times.

Travelers can take advantage of reduced fares in both Coach and Acela Business Class, allowing them to experience the comfort and convenience of train travel at a lower cost. This sale is designed to encourage more Americans to opt for rail travel over other more congested and less environmentally friendly modes of transportation during the busy summer period.

Eliot Hamlisch, Amtrak’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the benefits of this promotion. "This sale not only offers great value but also highlights the convenience and environmental benefits of rail travel," said Hamlisch. He noted that rail travel offers a more relaxed and scenic alternative to the stress of highway traffic and crowded airports.

According to Amtrak, passengers choosing train travel can significantly reduce their carbon footprint, with potential reductions in greenhouse gas emissions of up to 83% compared to driving and up to 72% when compared to flying. This environmental advantage is part of Amtrak's broader commitment to sustainable travel.

The Summer Travel Flash Sale also allows for combination with other Amtrak discounts, such as the 50% off Child’s Fare, although there are limited seats and specific rules apply. Full terms and conditions can be found on the Amtrak website.
