Finnair Adds More Summer Routes From Helsinki

Finnair is adding 12 new routes from Finland during the spring and summer season, giving Helsinki Airport a wider mix of European and long-haul destinations. The launches have been celebrated at Helsinki Airport with passengers and partners throughout spring. The airline is also bringing back Helsinki–Toronto flights after an 11-year break and preparing a new Melbourne route for October.
What Is Being Added
The summer expansion includes:
- European routes: Alta, Catania, Florence, Kos, Kuressaare, Luxembourg, Stavanger, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Turin, Valencia and Umeå;
- Toronto: resumed in May with three weekly summer flights;
- Melbourne: due to launch in October;
- Finnish domestic links: 14 airports served from Helsinki during summer.
Some of the new European services will also support regional Finnish airports. The Alta route in Norway operates via Kittilä, while the Umeå route in Sweden operates via Vaasa. Finavia said inaugural flights have been marked at Helsinki Airport, including new services to Tirana and Valencia, both operating twice weekly during the summer season.
The new routes give passengers more direct access to southern Europe, Scandinavia, the Balkans and North America. Valencia adds another Spanish city-and-beach option, while Tirana opens easier access to Albania’s capital and nearby coast. Toronto brings Canada back into Finnair’s network, and Melbourne will add a major long-haul connection later in the year.
The update is useful because it spreads choice across very different kinds of trips: short city breaks, beach holidays, Nordic travel, Lapland connections and long-haul journeys. Helsinki also keeps its role as the main link for regional Finnish airports, including Ivalo, Kittilä, Kuusamo and Rovaniemi, which remain important for both local travel and Lapland tourism.
