Dubai Opens a New Route to Libya

flydubai will launch direct flights between Dubai and Benghazi on 17 June 2026, becoming the first UAE carrier to serve the Libyan city nonstop. The service will operate three times a week between Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport and Benghazi Benina International Airport. The airline says the route adds a new connection between the UAE and Libya this summer.
The new flights are part of flydubai’s wider African growth, taking its East and North Africa network to 13 destinations across nine countries. The airline has recently added Nairobi, its second destination in Kenya after Mombasa, and seasonal flights to Al Alamein in Egypt. Its full network is expected to pass 100 destinations by summer 2026 as demand builds.
The Benghazi route will also sit within the flydubai and Emirates codeshare partnership. That allows passengers to book smoother itineraries on one ticket, with checked baggage handled through the journey and access to a wider combined network. Return Economy Class Lite fares on Dubai–Benghazi start at AED 4,500, while return Business Class fares start at AED 10,500, according to the airline.
Benghazi gives travellers another entry point into eastern Libya, a region better suited to planned trips than spontaneous breaks. The service may help visits linked to family, work and trade, while also making cultural travel simpler through Dubai. People using flydubai’s wider network can fit Benghazi into regional journeys more easily, without routing through extra hubs on separate tickets.
The useful detail here is connectivity, not holiday glamour. Libya has fewer direct air links than many nearby markets, so a Dubai route changes the practical side of planning. Three weekly flights still require careful date choices, yet they reduce friction for people who already have a reason to go. It is a niche route, but a meaningful one too.
