Britons demand to allow pets to be transported in airplane cabins
In the UK, signatures are being collected for the country's parliament, in which citizens demand a rethink of the established rules for transporting pets on airplanes. So far, more than 8,200 people have signed the petition to allow pets to travel with their owners.
It is noted that animals are currently traveling in the cargo hold with luggage. This was reported by Cambridgeshire Live.
The petition states that animals should not be left in the luggage compartment and should be allowed to travel with their owners in the cabin. To do this, pet owners must have the appropriate documents and information about vaccinations.
"This is allowed in many other countries around the world, including the EU, South America, and the US. Pets are often seen as an extension of the family. Many airlines allow pets weighing up to 9 kg to travel with them to most countries in the cabin, in their cage, not in the cargo hold. However, they are not allowed on commercial flights to the UK, regardless of their size. This can not only cause suffering to pets and their owners, but also jeopardize their health and safety. There have been cases where pets that were transported as regular cargo have died, been injured or lost," the petition says.
To receive a response, the petition must receive the required 10,000 votes. In addition, if the petition garners more than 100,000 signatures, the government will have to consider the proposal in parliament.
