New Nonstop Route Connects Edinburgh with Jutland’s Billund
Norwegian has started a direct nonstop flight connecting Edinburgh, Scotland, to Billund, Denmark. From Edinburgh, the airline flies to Copenhagen, Bergen, Oslo, and Stockholm, and Billund now joins as its fourth Nordic destination from the city. The launch is part of a broader expansion, with Norwegian introducing ten new routes from Billund to European destinations. This step shows the airline’s goal to strengthen UK–Scandinavia connections while catering to rising travel demand in the area.
The new service increases travel options from several UK airports. From Edinburgh, passengers can now fly directly to:
- Copenhagen
- Billund
- Bergen
- Oslo
- Stockholm
Additional UK departures include:
- From London Gatwick: Billund, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stavanger, Trondheim, Bergen, Ålesund, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsinki
- From Manchester: Copenhagen, Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Stockholm
- From Newcastle: Copenhagen
This network underlines Norwegian’s role in linking UK cities with major Nordic destinations.
“The direct route will make it easier for Danes to experience history, culture, cuisine, and the stunning landscapes of Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands – an unforgettable travel experience. Likewise, we hope to welcome on board many Scots travelling to Billund, one of the most popular family destinations in Scandinavia, known for its many attractions and famous theme parks."
Billund is internationally recognised for several major attractions that have defined its identity as a travel destination. The LEGOLAND® theme park continues to attract large numbers of visitors annually, while LEGO® House functions as an interactive centre dedicated to the brand’s history and design. The town also includes waterparks, zoos, and recreational facilities, which together form a cluster of family-oriented activities. Beyond these sites, Billund maintains a reputation as a location that combines tourism and business functions within a relatively small area.
Beyond the main attractions, Billund also provides access to Jutland’s wider highlights. Travellers can visit Givskud Zoo, where safari-style tours showcase wildlife from several continents, or explore the city of Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest, with its open-air museum Den Gamle By and modern ARoS art museum. Coastal destinations such as the Wadden Sea National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and beaches near Vejers and Blåvand, add natural variety. Cycling trails across rolling countryside complete the region’s offering.
The recently introduced Edinburgh–Billund flight by Norwegian highlights the airline’s growth in the Nordic region and strengthens its presence in the UK. Travelers can now use an added nonstop route to Denmark, complementing flights already operating from London, Manchester, and Newcastle. This pattern shows that smaller European cities are becoming more central to airline planning, as carriers try to meet leisure, business, and regional travel needs over time.
