Depending on the airline, approximately half of passengers utilize programs to save money and take advantage of benefits. A smaller percentage of these flyers are classified as elite members. Some airlines even offer special programs for their highest-income customers that surpass the normal elite level.

For instance, Delta Air Lines (DAL) has a program called Delta 360, described as an invitation-only level of service for top SkyMiles members. American Airlines (AAL) offers a program called Concierge Key, which is also available by invitation only and includes Executive Platinum benefits and other advantages. This information is detailed on dcourier.com.

Another major US carrier, United Airlines (UAL), has an official elite tier above its Premier 1K program called Global Services. This program is set to become more expensive soon. United Global Services is essentially a rebranding of the older VIP plan.

"The criteria for obtaining this status are usually not published, but there are workarounds. At United, prepayment for travel through PassPlus still provides Global Services status. However, in 2024, it will become significantly more expensive," said travel expert Gary Leff.

The increase implies that anyone wishing to renew their subscription must do so by the end of December 2023.

"The individual PassPlus program allows you to attain Global Services status for an upfront payment of $50,000 in United flights. Unfortunately, we now know that the fees for the individual PassPlus program for Global Services status will increase from $50,000 to $75,000 starting on 01.01.2024," as reported by DansDeals.
