Britons have been urged to get vaccinated and remain vigilant due to the increasing incidence of Covid in tourist areas

Immunologists have warned Britons to rethink their travel plans to popular tourist destinations amid rising cases of coronavirus and influenza. People were also urged to get vaccinated.

Infectious disease experts have warned of high risks for unvaccinated tourists traveling abroad. Sheena Cruickshank, an immunologist and professor of biomedical sciences at the University of Manchester, told the Mirror about the high incidence rate worldwide.

"Vaccine-induced immunity can protect against serious illnesses, but vaccination coverage and utilization are low, so people may be at greater risk," she warned.

Although the world was shaken by the coronavirus 5 years ago, the number of unvaccinated Britons is still significant. It is the unvaccinated who are most at risk of catching the virus while on vacation.

Dr. Bharat Pankhania, a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Exeter and a disease control expert, emphasized that people do not have a "good memory against the coronavirus," so vaccinations should be done regularly to maintain antibody levels.

When asked if it was important to get vaccinated before vacation, he answered "without a doubt."

Far fewer people wear masks and care about hygiene now than two years ago, which can lead to the rapid spread of the virus in crowded places.
