United Airlines and Lufthansa Group want to turn Brussels into an American-African hub
Brussels, a long-standing travel hub between Europe and Africa, is now set to become a convenient gateway for travelers heading to the new continent of North America. Promisingly, Lufthansa Group subsidiary Brussels Airlines is in talks with United Airlines to improve travel between Africa and the United States, where Brussels is a strategic hub.
This exciting prospect could open up new travel opportunities, making travel between the two continents more convenient and enjoyable for passengers, writes Simple Flying.
Lufthansa, its subsidiary Brussels Airlines and United Airlines are part of the Star Alliance, which allows the three organizations to share flights. Teams in Chicago and Frankfurt are now working together to secure code-sharing agreements and route plans to facilitate intercontinental travel.
United Airlines and Brussels Airlines are expected to do most of the work. However, there are plans to involve Air Canada (another Star Alliance member) in bringing passengers from Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to the United States and possibly Canada.
As TravelWise reported, United Airlines is now allowing customers to collect miles with friends and family.
