World's largest suspended pool to be built in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has announced its latest ambitious construction project - the world's longest suspended swimming pool, built on the roof of the 250-room Treyam resort. It will be part of a new huge futuristic city called NEOM.
The hybrid hotel and bridge complex will include a spa and gourmet restaurants. Guests will feel as if they are floating above a desert lagoon, dailymail.co.uk reports.
The team behind NEOM said: "With its bold design and minimal ground disturbance, Treyam offers guests a luxurious haven where they can relax, recharge and enjoy the majestic natural surroundings."
The resort will offer a variety of outdoor activities, such as sailing, diving and other water sports, as well as land sports.
NEOM was opened in 2017 by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It is located on a vast area that used to be mostly wasteland, about the size of Belgium. Located on the northern coast of the Red Sea, the place has a slightly cooler climate than the surrounding area.
The most unusual architectural object will be the "horizontal skyscraper" Mirror Line, 490 meters high and 120 km long. The project was originally called The Line.
NEOM is reportedly due to be completed in 2050 - and if so, it is believed to have cost $1 trillion (£783.5 billion) by then.
