Top 10 most hospitable cities in the world worth visiting
Great customer service is a key component of a great vacation. Booking.com recently released its annual Traveler Review Awards, recognizing destinations that offer the best experience for travelers.
The company analyzed more than 309 million verified customer reviews of accommodations in more than 221 countries to compile its list of the world's most hospitable cities. This is reported by the Travel+Leisure website.
Arraial d'Ajuda, Brazil
The winner of the rating is the quaint coastal town of Arraial d'Ajuda in the Brazilian province of Bahia. It is located on a stretch of lush Atlantic coastline called the "Coast of Discovery". Arraial d'Ajuda is known as an ideal beach town with wide sandy beaches surrounded by greenery and coconut palms.
"Travelers can enjoy the colorful houses scattered throughout the village and the ancient church of Nossa Senhora d'Ajuda, one of the oldest Catholic churches in Brazil," notes Booking.com.
The main street of the city, Rua do Mucuge, was recognized as the most charming street in Brazil and is a lively stone-paved street with many restaurants, bars, inns, and shops.
Ermoupoli, Greece
The second place on the list is taken by Ermoupoli, Greece. This waterfront city is the administrative capital of Syros and the Cyclades Islands and is worth a visit for its beautiful neoclassical architecture and pastel-colored buildings that flow into the sea.
"Travelers can wander through the tiny streets and winding alleys, enjoying the beautiful sights, including Miaouli Square, a historic marble square in the heart of Ermoupoli, and the town hall with a 15-meter staircase leading to the main entrance of the building," recommends Booking.com.
Viana do Castelo, Portugal
The bronze medal went to the Portuguese city of Viana do Castelo, north of Porto. The impressive Santa Luzia Sanctuary Basilica on top of the hill is one of the symbols of the city and the best place for panoramic views of the entire neighborhood. The city has a long history and is closely associated with Portugal's maritime discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Daylesford, Australia, and Grindelwald, Switzerland
The fourth and fifth places on the list of the most hospitable cities according to Booking.com were taken by Daylesford, Australia, known for its mineral springs, and Grindelwald, Switzerland, which at an altitude of 3300 feet above sea level offers visitors breathtaking alpine landscapes and in summer turns into a great place for hiking for nature lovers.
Moab, Utah
The only American destination on the list is Moab, Utah, which ranks sixth. The company describes it as "a true outdoor enthusiast's paradise and the perfect place to discover a variety of landscapes that are among the most beautiful in the United States."
The medieval city of Uzès in the Provence region of France, Mazatlán in Mexico, the fantastic beach resort in Sinaloa, Jaisalmer in India, and the Japanese town of Fujikawaguchiko, located at the foot of Mount Fuji, round out the top 10 destinations.
