The best place to stay in southeast England is named
A Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant in Kent has been recognized as the best place to stay in the southeast of the UK.
Thus, The Times and Sunday Times named Boys Hall in Ashford worthy of this title in the final list of the 100 best places to stay, Kent Online writes.
The reviewers describe the interior, service and location of the Grade II listed manor house on the outskirts of the city as "unexpected at its best".
Since opening in August 2022, Boys Hall, run by husband-and-wife team Brad and Kristie Lomas, has been inundated with compliments for both its food and boutique hotel experience.
Last year, the prestigious Michelin Guide added the eatery to its list of esteemed restaurants.
"This charming old house, built in 1616 for the Boys family, has been mercifully converted into a hotel with attractive features at every turn, plus three acres of gardens and grounds. The restaurant is located in an annexe to the main house and serves local produce from Kent, with Romney Marsh lamb being a clear favourite," the guide says.
Last October, it was also named the world's best country retreat. And in November, it was recognized as the 16th best boutique hotel in the country and the second best in Kent after The Pig in Canterbury.
As TravelWise reported, South Shields, home to Sandhaven Beach, was named the second worst seaside town in Britain by the Telegraph.
