SWISS is experiencing rapid growth: the airline safely transported over 500,000 passengers during the holiday season
The airline is pleased to announce that it successfully transported 546,961 travelers during this holiday season. It is noteworthy that SWISS maintained its commendable operational performance, with almost 99% of its flights operating on schedule. This achievement is notable given the challenges posed by unfavorable weather conditions at airports, resulting in some delays, as well as significant sickness absence among both ground and flight staff.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) reported an overall positive performance of its flights during the Christmas and New Year holidays. From December 22, 2023, to January 2, 2024, the company promptly delivered 546,961 passengers to their destinations. For comparison, during the previous Christmas and New Year period, SWISS carried 467,955 passengers with a schedule stability of 99.4%. This information is reported by travelandtourworld.com.
SWISS Chief Operating Officer Oliver Buchhofer expressed satisfaction with the goals achieved, emphasizing the ability to keep to schedules even during the hectic Christmas period. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the holiday season and praised the exceptional dedication of SWISS employees who successfully managed to meet them.
Despite the overall positive result, the last two weeks of the holiday season saw some delays and 58 flight cancellations, mainly due to difficult weather conditions such as high winds, frost, and snow. In addition, operations were affected by staff absences due to colds and flu.
Approximately 17% of all SWISS flights arrived at their destination with a delay of more than 30 minutes, while 58% departed on time, taking off within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time. Recognizing that most delays occur at the airport prior to departure, SWISS continues to prioritize schedule stability, especially during the holiday season, to ensure that passengers can celebrate the holidays with their loved ones.
Earlier, SWISS announced initiatives over the summer to improve the punctuality of its flights, emphasizing the airline's ongoing commitment to operational excellence.
