SWISS Adds Seoul-Zurich Route to Summer 2024 Schedule
In an ambitious expansion of its international network, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is set to launch direct flights connecting Seoul, South Korea, to Zurich, Switzerland, starting summer 2024. This move comes alongside the airline's announcement of new services to Washington, DC, and Toronto, Canada, as part of its strategy to broaden its reach in both Western and Eastern markets.
The introduction of the Seoul service marks the first time SWISS will connect the South Korean capital to its hub in Zurich. This decision reflects the airline's response to growing demand for direct and efficient travel options between Asia and Europe. Seoul, a city that seamlessly blends historical sites with modern architecture, and Zurich, a center of cultural and economic significance in Switzerland, are expected to see increased travel and business exchanges through this direct air link.
Heike Birlenbach, SWISS Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the strategic importance of adding Seoul to the airline's long-haul destinations. She highlighted the city's appeal to both leisure and business travelers, indicating the airline's goal to enhance its service offerings to meet customer needs for non-stop flights connecting major global cities.
The operation will begin on 7 May 2024, with three weekly flights utilizing the Airbus A340, which includes a range of cabin classes from First Class to Economy. The flight schedule is tailored to provide convenient travel times for passengers, facilitating smooth transitions for those traveling between the two cities or connecting to other destinations.
Leo Tonidandel, General Manager Korea for Lufthansa Group Airlines, underscored the significance of the Seoul route for SWISS and its commitment to offering a premium travel experience. As part of the Lufthansa Group, SWISS enables Korean customers to benefit from integrated services, including a unified mileage program and a broader selection of flight options.
This expansion is part of SWISS's ongoing efforts to adapt to the evolving needs of the global travel market, focusing on providing direct and accessible routes to its passengers. The Seoul-Zurich link not only strengthens the airline's presence in Asia but also offers a new gateway for cultural and economic exchanges between Switzerland and South Korea.
