Scott Strickland Named Chief Commercial Officer Wyndham Hotels & Resorts
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: WH) has announced the appointment of Scott Strickland as Chief Commercial Officer, with him reporting directly to the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Ballotti. In this newly established role, Strickland and his team will focus on delivering exceptional value and experiences to Wyndham’s owners and guests across its 25 brands through a consolidated commercial organization.
Scott Strickland brings over 7 years of experience, transitioning from the private equity sector where he led information systems, eCommerce, and business transformation teams at renowned companies such as D+M Holdings, Nissan, and Black & Decker. Under Strickland’s guidance, Wyndham has cemented its leadership position and spearheaded various industry innovations for its owners.
In his new capacity as Chief Commercial Officer, Strickland retains his responsibilities for enhancing and executing Wyndham’s technology and distribution strategy while also assuming oversight of global sales, revenue generation, marketing, communications, and the esteemed loyalty program, Wyndham Rewards.
The integration of cross-functional leaders under Strickland’s leadership aims to further empower franchisees with owner-centric tools, technology, and marketing innovations. This consolidation of best-in-class technology, marketing, and sales teams into a singular entity strengthens the Wyndham Advantage, enabling franchisees to operate their hotels more efficiently and profitably both now and in the future.
As part of this restructuring, Lisa Checchio, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, will be departing from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Throughout her tenure, Checchio played a pivotal role in launching the Company’s "by Wyndham" endorsement strategy, introducing new hotel brands, and driving substantial growth for Wyndham Rewards – the award-winning loyalty program, which has surpassed 100 million members. Additionally, Checchio spearheaded the creation of Women Own the Room, a pioneering initiative dedicated to advancing women in hotel ownership, boasting significant achievements including 15 open hotels, over 50 signings, and a thriving community of more than 550 members.
Ballotti expressed gratitude for Checchio’s leadership and expertise across marketing, consumer engagement, digital commerce, and global sales, acknowledging her significant contributions to Wyndham and the broader hotel industry. Checchio's departure marks the end of an era characterized by innovation and growth under her stewardship.
