Qatar Airways Enhances Connectivity with Move to North Goa's Manohar International Airport
In a significant development for air travel in India, Qatar Airways has announced the relocation of its operations from Dabolim Airport (GOI) in South Goa to the newly inaugurated Manohar International Airport (GOX) in North Goa, effective 20 June 2024. This strategic move underscores the airline's commitment to providing enhanced service and connectivity for its passengers traveling between Doha, Qatar, and Goa, India.
Qatar Airways will mark the end of its operations at Dabolim Airport with its final flights scheduled for 19 June 2024 from Hamad International Airport (DOH) to GOI, and the last return flight on 20 June 2024. The airline, which first commenced its Goa operations in 2009, has played a pivotal role in fostering the Doha-Goa route as a crucial link in its extensive network of over 170 destinations worldwide.
The transition to Manohar International Airport, named after a prominent local figure and designed to reflect the vibrant Goan culture, is set to redefine the air travel experience. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, the new airport promises to offer passengers a more comfortable and seamless journey. Notably, the airport's proximity to major hotels and public transportation options enhances its appeal as a convenient gateway for travelers.
In addition to Qatar Airways, Manohar International Airport will host flights from strategic partners such as IndiGo and Oman Air, further expanding the connectivity options available to visitors and residents of Goa. The airport's modern cargo facilities, boasting a 25,000 metric tonnes temperature-controlled handling capacity, are poised to establish GOX as a leading export hub in the region.
The service continuation to Goa through Manohar International Airport will be operated on a daily direct flight schedule, utilizing a mix of Airbus 320 and Boeing 787 aircraft, ensuring that Qatar Airways maintains its high standards of comfort and reliability.
This development is not just a testament to Qatar Airways' dedication to enhancing its service offerings but also signals a new era for the aviation sector in Goa. The move to Manohar International Airport is anticipated to bring about a significant positive impact on the local tourism industry, offering both leisure and business travelers an improved airport experience that mirrors the exuberant spirit and architectural beauty of Goa.
