Internal travel and hotels will become more affordable: tourism trends for 2024 from Kayak

Kayak has published its forecast of travel trends for 2024. While the results underscore everyone's desire to travel abroad in the next 12 months, the report also contains one fantastic piece of news: domestic travel is set to become much more economical.
"In 2024, domestic airfares will drop by 16% compared to 2023," the report says. - This means that the average flight in the United States will cost $461," Travel+Leisure writes.
Although everyone wants to travel abroad next year, the authors of the study note that international airfares will move in the opposite direction. International airfares are expected to rise by 10 percent compared to last year. If you still want to book an international trip, try to do it eight months in advance. That's when airfare will be the cheapest.
With all of these savings on domestic flights, you may finally be able to afford the coveted upgrade that Kayak says you probably want anyway.
"Surveys show that basic economy is not what passengers want," the trend report says. "Searches for premium economy and business class airfare have increased dramatically for travel in 2024."
In a statement to Travel + Leisure, Kayak said that not only are airfares expected to rise, but prices in several categories, including hotels and car rentals, are also expected to fall. Airfares are forecast to fall by 16 percent year-on-year, hotels are also expected to fall by 9 percent, and car rentals are expected to drop by 14 percent year-on-year.
