Driverless taxis will soon be running in Mumbai
Mumbai will soon start running capsule taxis between Bandra and Kurla.
According to reports, the Mumbai Regional Development Authority has recently sanctioned the introduction of a capsule taxi service in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) region, marking a significant development as the first such service in the financial center of Mumbai. The decision is intended to overcome the notorious traffic jams in the BKC area, the Times of India reports.
Thus, the Maharashtra government has unveiled plans for a capsule taxi service to facilitate transportation to the Bandra-Kurla complex, a well-known business center. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has granted approval for a capsule taxi service along an 8.8-kilometer route connecting Bandra and Kurla railway stations, the chief minister's office announced.
The capsules will be able to accommodate six passengers each, traveling at 40 km per hour and making a total of 38 stops along the route.
The initiative will be implemented through a public-private partnership aimed at improving the convenience of travel between the two railway stations and the BKC.
As TravelWise reported, a strange but dangerous railroad incident occurred in India, raising safety concerns. On February 25, a freight train hit the road without a driver.
