Big changes announced at East Midlands Airport ahead of Easter

Passengers flying from East Midlands Airport (EMA) over the Easter or summer holidays will see several changes, including a major refurbishment of the popular bar. Leicestershire Airport at Donington Castle has completed a series of improvements as part of a £120 million investment program.

The Castle Rock Tap Room & Kitchen, described as one of the most popular venues in the EMA departure lounge, has been "significantly updated and modernized," a spokesperson said. It now offers more tables and additional bar space for quick service, while continuing to serve a variety of food and drink, including local Castle Rock beer, LeicestershireLive reports.

The toilets next to Castle Rock have also been "completely renovated and feature a new look and modern fixtures, including Dyson Airblade flush and dry taps." New baby changing facilities are now available, and Changing Place toilets can be found downstairs near the Escape Lounge. A new prayer room will open in the departure lounge, complementing the existing one in the check-in area, the spokesperson said.

New seating is planned to be installed near the Starbucks ahead of the summer, which "will improve the appearance of the departure lounge and increase the number and comfort of seats for airport customers," the spokesman added. Meanwhile, "improved Wi-Fi for customers throughout the terminal and 500 new luggage carts will also be available."

JD Sports is going to open a new, "very large outlet in the departure lounge, offering customers a wide range of popular brand clothing during their vacation." Customers heading to the check-in hall will see billboards where work has begun to expand the security hall for new scanners. This will not affect passengers traveling through airport security this Easter or summer, as current security measures are still in place, the spokesperson said.

As TravelWise reported, the upcoming summer season will provide travelers with a choice of more than 50 destinations with direct flights from Tallinn Airport.
