American Airlines launches direct flights to Jamaica
American Airlines intends to introduce direct flights to Jamaica. Thus, this airline will be the only one in the country to provide non-stop flights from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ).
It is noted that the launch of a new flight from Miami to Ocho Rios will have a significant impact on tourism in Jamaica. This was reported by Travel And Tour World.
It is known that the flights will be operated on a 76-seater Embraer 175 aircraft, which will complement American Airlines' extensive schedule, with more than 100 peak flights to Jamaica every week. The flights will operate twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. It is noted that the new flight will provide new opportunities for flights to Jamaica from eight US cities, including Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, and Philadelphia.
Jamaica's Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, noted the timeliness of this initiative, and Donovan White, Director of Tourism at the Jamaica Tourist Board, called the decision a landmark and expressed hope that the new flights could help attract more tourists to explore the diverse offerings of Jamaica.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that American Airlines will operate flights from New York to Tokyo.
