A billionaire will build a life-size replica of the Titanic in Australia: what it will look like
Australian billionaire and mining magnate Clive Palmer is resuming plans to build the Titanic II 10 years after he first announced his intentions. He is convinced that "building the Titanic is much more fun than sitting at home and counting money.
The tycoon promised to build a ship "much better than the original" when he presented the design of his Titanic II project at the Sydney Opera House for the second time, The Guardian reports.
The tycoon's company Blue Star Line will build a "love ship that will be a model of style and luxury." However, the place where the construction will take place has not yet been decided. Instead, journalists have already been shown a five-minute video with a detailed 3D rendering of what all nine decks of Titanic II will look like.
The tycoon said that he had engaged "the world's best cruise ship designers" to work on the project. The ship will have the same interiors and cabin layouts as the original liner, with a ballroom, swimming pool and Turkish baths, as well as lifeboats.
It is well known that on the Titanic, the largest ship in world history at the beginning of the 20th century, lifeboats were the key rescue equipment of the ship. There were only 20 lifeboats on board, with a total nominal capacity of 1178 people, while the ship's full capacity was 3547 people.
As reported by TravelWise, thousands of detailed 3D images of the legendary Titanic shipwreck were made using modern technology.
