The cultural and economic centre of Mallorca, set in a picturesque bay, has a variety of accommodation options to offer, especially when it comes to boutique hotels. However, few of them have such an exotic and special atmosphere as the Palma Riad. One of the best hotels in Mallorca is for adults only and occupies a restored townhouse dating back to the 18th century. The Palma Riad is located next to the charming Carrer de Sant Jaume Street, close to the centre of the capital.

Each of the 11 suites is characterised by a distinctive style designed by Barcelona-based designer Pablo Pereira. For example, the Orientalist fantasy suite includes romantic chandeliers, lacquered chests, and a TV set cleverly hidden behind a mirror. Special attention should be paid to the hammam-style bathrooms, decorated with dark tiles and open fireplaces.

The velvet-lined corridors with dim lighting lead through the hotel to the bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Here guests can order craft cocktails and enjoy such delicious dishes as Parisian entrecote, salad with fresh burrata, roasted peach and flambéed figs. Guests can also spend time in the spacious atrium to catch their breath and relax on comfortable wicker chairs while listening to the soothing murmur of a waterfall in the miniature pool.

ZEL Hotel

Located in Palma Nova, this cool hotel in Mallorca is owned by Meliá Hotels International, co-founded by Rafael Nadal. ZEL Hotel is known for its light atmosphere, which is in keeping with its location right on the beachfront.

The main focus of the hotel is a huge open-plan space where each area flows seamlessly into the next, from the lobby to the impressive three-storey dining room, which opens onto a sprawling patio with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Facilities available to guests include:

  • two swimming pools;
  • gym;
  • sauna and steam room;
  • Jacuzzi;
  • spa centre with aromatherapy, massage and other treatments.

In the evening, the hotel offers a variety of entertainment: regular live music performances during the week and discos on weekends after 19:00. It is not for nothing that Mallorca is a paradise for party lovers. For a more relaxed atmosphere, head outside the ZEL Hotel to visit the exquisite Beso Beach restaurant, where you can enjoy refreshing cocktails such as strawberry mojitos and deliciously generous dishes such as classic paella or perfectly cooked perch.

Corazon Hotel

The new Corazón Hotel is located on the west coast of Mallorca between Deia and Soller on a steep winding road, offering incredible views of the shimmering blue of the Mediterranean Sea. This restaurant was designed by British fashion photographer Kate Bell, known for her psychedelic portraits of women, in collaboration with Mexican artist and master gardener Edgar Lopez. So, inside, guests will find unique works by artists who were inspired by staying and living on the island.

The apartments are decorated with natural materials and you won't find TVs here, so that nothing distracts you from the fantastic views of Mallorca. Guests can choose to stay in one of the 15 rooms in the restored historic manor house. The complex also includes an art space, a restaurant, a shop and an organic farm. There is always something to do at the Corazon Hotel, from workshops and guided hikes to art shows and music jam sessions.

Son Net

Son Net, located in the foothills of Tramuntana and overlooking the romantic town of Puigpunyent, has long been a favourite with regular guests, and after a large-scale renovation, it has begun to attract travellers from all over the world with double the strength. Under the guidance of collector and designer Lorenzo Castillo, the minimalist establishment has sparkled with new colours. Public areas and rooms have been decorated with works of art and antique furniture. In addition, some apartments feature special frescoes from the 17th century.

The accommodation options include 31 rooms, and almost all of them have a huge bathroom. There is a classic restaurant on site, as well as charming gardens leading to terraces with a swimming pool. The hotel's pride is its luxurious 1000-square-metre spa.

The Lodge

Surrounded by olive groves and lavender fields, one of Mallorca's finest hotels is located on a well-kept plot of almost 400 acres. The Lodge, owned by the Unico brand, has 24 rooms decorated in a terracotta shade with floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also an excellent restaurant on site, offering dishes cooked over an open fire under the direction of Chef David Martinez, and three swimming pools, including an infinity pool. If you want to go for a walk, go for a hike in the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains or spend the day relaxing on the white sandy beach of Alcudia Bay.

Can Ferrereta

Among the many charming hotels in Mallorca, Can Ferrereta, located in Santanyi, stands out. This place is the fruit of the inspiration and work of Andrés Soldevila Ferrer, the owner of the popular Grande-Dame Majestic in Barcelona and a descendant of a Catalan family. He found an abandoned but unique 17th-century mansion on the island.

Authentic haylofts and vaulted roofs have been carefully restored to combine the atmosphere of a luxury townhouse with cosy rustic minimalism, where rough textural elements work in harmony with Carl Hansen armchairs and Santa & Cole lamps handcrafted in Spain.

The rooms inside are decorated with a collection of contemporary art, including works by local carpenters, potters and farmers, as well as Italian ceramics by Bucci and high-quality Catalan bedding by Lo de Manuela.

Can Ferrereta is the perfect place for a carefree holiday that requires only minimal effort to explore the works of Dominique Sánchez and Jordi Alcaraz, visit the Sa Calma Spa, where you can enjoy seaweed and salt treatments. The day will culminate with a gourmet dinner at one of the best restaurants in the Ocre region, led by Alvar Albadejo, serving Mediterranean cuisine. If you have the energy and desire, go for a walk in Santanyi Square or spend the day among the white salt flats in Es Trenk.

Son Bunyola

This hotel boasts some of the best views on the coast, overlooking the sea and the Tramuntana Mountains that tower in the background. The Son Bunyola in Mallorca is one of Richard Branson's major projects, which has been in the works for decades. The hotel occupies a reimagined 16th-century manor house set amongst vineyards and olive groves on a 1300-acre site. Staying here, you are in the heart of a unique landscape that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, Son Bunyola was only opened in 2023, so guests can expect state-of-the-art expressions.

Special attention was paid to preserving as many authentic details as possible. Thus, you can see the original olive press, the chapel altar, which takes pride of place in the restaurant, and even the defence tower dating back to the 13th century. The shimmering turquoise tiled pool is a favourite place to relax on hot days. After an active day out, be sure to check out the main restaurant, which is headed by Chef Samuel Galdon.

The hotel has only 26 rooms, many of which feature original wooden rafters. Most of the suites are centred around a patio with mountain or pool views.

La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel

If you are looking for a place for a refined holiday, pay attention to La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel. This hotel is on the list of those that should be visited at least once in your life. The road to it leads through a network of fascinating twists and turns, past steep gorges and high drops; eventually, travellers find themselves in the charming Dáia, located on the west coast of the island.

In 1987, La Residencia was acquired by Richard Branson, who managed to turn this place into one of the best hotels in Mallorca. The vast territory owned by the English businessman resembles a tangled labyrinth of numerous centuries-old buildings scattered at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana and includes:

  • 71 rooms, including six state-of-the-art suites;
  • two art studios;
  • art gallery;
  • tennis courts;
  • four restaurants;
  • two outdoor swimming pools;
  • a children's club and much more.

In addition, there is a network of mountain trails that are so pleasant to walk along, enjoying the amazing views and fresh air. The on-site bistro serves traditional tapas with chorizo and jamon Iberico, and El Olivo offers a candlelit dinner with a tasting menu inspired by Mallorca: freshly caught shrimp baked in salt, suckling pig with sobrasada and sage sauce, and traditional Sóller orange ice cream.

The suites provide private terraces with green shutters and some of the rooms have private plunge pools, which are in particular demand on hot days. The large rooms are decorated in cool hues with citrus accents, with soft beds and safes that hide behind artwork from Branson's extensive collection.

Es Raco D'Arta

Master builder Jaume Danus, in partnership with architect and designer Antoni Esteve, is responsible for some of the best and most exciting hotel projects in Mallorca, but their joint creation Es Raco D'Arta deserves special attention. The establishment is located near the small historic town of Arta in the northeast of the island. The traditional estate is set in picturesque acres of countryside, where you can also find a nature reserve, a farm and even a monastery shelter.

The main building of the hotel is a mansion dating back to the 13th century that looks like a fortress. The interior rooms are decorated in the rustic minimalist style typical of Antoni Esteva. The interior is predominantly white, decorated with natural materials, where every detail is in its place, such as vintage hats on hooks or a wicker basket in the corner.

The main focus of Es Raco D'Arta is on comprehensive wellness. In particular, the spa centre has areas for meditation and water treatments, and yoga classes are held. Even the reception desk, which is made of wood, does not have a computer, and the mobile signal is deliberately minimal.

The hotel is powered by geothermal and solar energy, and an ecological water purification system has been implemented. Dishes are prepared using ingredients sourced from the local organic garden, and even olive oil, honey and wine are produced here. Es Raco D'Arta is a place for deep, comprehensive relaxation that will give you a positive energy boost until your next holiday.

Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden

If you want to stay in a truly special place that allows you to feel the whole atmosphere of the characteristic Palma district, we recommend staying at this top hotel in Mallorca. However, you should be prepared for the fact that it is not easy to find the location as there are no signs or a lively outdoor terrace with waiters serving the flow of guests. An inconspicuous stone arch leads from the square to the hotel, which was once a private family home and then a school run by nuns.

The Can Bordoy Grand House and Garden was completely restored and rebuilt with the help of prominent architects Palma Hernández and Jaime Oliver of OHLAB. The main goal of the project was to preserve the rich historical heritage, which would be combined with modern touches. There is a picturesque courtyard where you can relax in the shade, a living room with a vine-covered ceiling that flows seamlessly into the library and dining room. Key amenities for guests' comfort include

  • a rooftop sun terrace offering panoramic views, with a glass-bottomed swimming poolspa centre in the basement;
  • Botànic restaurant, headed by Chef Andrés Benitez, whose menu uses mainly local organic ingredients.

The space is filled with light and airiness, decorated with both vintage and modern furniture. Highlights of the apartments include large custom-made walnut beds, cocktail bars and built-in stereos.

Sant Francesc Hotel Singular

Located in the heart of the historic quarter of Palma's Old Town in the quiet and beautiful Plaça de Sant Francesc and next to the 13th-century church of the same name, this hotel offers its guests maximum privacy. The 19th-century palace has been transformed into an independent establishment, including an exhibition centre, as a result of extensive renovations commissioned by owner Andrés Soldevila Ferrer. The rooms are characterised by thoughtfulness and attention to the smallest detail. In particular, inside, you can find a waterproof bag for storing your swimsuit and a small gift in the form of a guidebook with the hotel owner's favourite places.

A restaurant on site, Quadrat Restaurant & Garden, where table 42, where Michelle Obama once dined, is in great demand. The restaurant serves seasonal Mediterranean dishes, for example, the signature socarrat rice with shrimp sourced from the local island of Soller is a must-order. For breakfast, guests can enjoy a traditional ensamida, a snail-shaped cake made by the famous C'an Joan de S'aigo bakery.

Esplendido

One of the best hotels for a holiday in Mallorca is the Esplendido, located in Port de Soller. The historic 1950s location with its balustrades and green shutters is located on the northwest coast of a natural horseshoe-shaped bay of extraordinary beauty. The charming seaside town boasts a pedestrianised promenade and an abundance of beachside restaurants and cosy taverns. Hotel Esplendido is run by Swedish couple Mikael and Johanna Landström, who also own Hotel Portixol in the capital. A rather dilapidated traditional building has been transformed by their efforts into a shining temple celebrating Scandinavian style.

The rooms are spacious and bright, with a touch of retro, decorated with mid-century armchairs and fern-printed wallpaper. The rooms offer views of the gardens with olive trees, bougainvillea and red geraniums, as well as the water. As there is no traffic nearby, so guests can fall asleep to the soothing sound of waves gently lapping the shore. The minibar is stocked with complimentary drinks, the wardrobe includes a beach bag and flip-flops, and the bathrooms are fitted with large white towels and Korres fragrant cosmetics. Mineral water is available at your bedside every night, and Wi-Fi is fast and reliable

This hotel is a great choice for a family holiday as it has many suitable facilities for guests of all ages. These include several swimming pools, including one for adults only, highchairs and bedding, a special menu for kids in the bistro and even treatments in the spa. Although there is no kids' club at Espalindido, the shallow bay is great for snorkelling. You can also go pedal boating or take an exhilarating boat trip exploring the coves further down the coast.

When the temperature outside drops, take a stroll into Soller for a few refreshing cocktails. If you have some time to spare, spend it on the hotel terrace watching the sun dip between the rocks and reflect off the boats while sipping a cold gin and tonic.

Hotel Gloria de Sant Jaume

The main advantage of the highest-rated hotel in Mallorca is its location. The Hotel Glòria de Sant Jaume is located in Palma on Sant Jaume Street, where rich yellow and orange mansions are concentrated.

The establishment is filled with charming historical details and authentic touches: sandstone arches, black and white floors, 19th-century newspapers framed under printed wallpaper, and even stables transformed into a spa basement. On top of that, you get top-notch service, so it's immediately clear that the hotel wasn't run by a novice.

In fact, the Hotel Glòria de Sant Jaume is practically a family affair, led by owner Jordi Cabau and his wife Heidi Wolf, who selected red velvet sofas, high beds, Spanish brass lanterns, clocks, wall lamps and other decorative elements to create an unobtrusive Art Deco style. That is why you will not find two identical rooms here. For example, the Love Suite, located on the ground floor, features a mezzanine with a Victorian bathtub, while the other is on the second floor, with a round window and creamy red tiled floor.

The highlight of the hotel is the El Patio de Glòria restaurant, which looks like something out of a novel, with romantic bookshelves and chairs in raspberry pink and grey. The restaurant is headed by Chef Javier Gardonio, who has brought Argentine fervour to Spanish dishes.

Finca Serena

Simplicity and beauty in one place. Source: https://www.fincaserenamallorca.com/

Located a 25-minute drive northeast of Palma, Finca Serena blends so harmoniously into the surrounding landscape and amidst Montuiri farmland, ghostly windmills and abandoned stone buildings, that it feels as if it has always been here. This good Majorca hotel occupies a 13th-century manor house, which is set amidst 40 acres of well-tended grounds. The Finca Serena Bu was opened in 2019 by the Unico Hotels brand, offering the possibility of a peaceful retreat as the silence is broken only by the singing of robins in the morning.

The accommodation options include 25 rooms, which are decorated with wooden antique furniture found in French flea markets, with natural bedding and beams painted in milky white, and the only decor is olive branches collected from the grove nearby.

Facilities available to guests include:

  • a spa that uses Natura Bissé products;
  • an outdoor swimming pool;
  • a network of walking paths;
  • a hotel shop selling wicker baskets and linen clothing.

The Jacaranda restaurant offers a small but excellent menu from Chef Baltasar Rigo, which includes three seasonal dishes prepared using only farm products. For example, you can enjoy fennel soup, broccoli risotto and apricot ice cream pie.

Cal Reiet

One of the best hotels in Mallorca, located in the southeastern part of the island, is the perfect choice for those who are health conscious. Cal Reiet is located near the family-friendly beaches of Es Trenc with shallow waters and long sandy stretches, and there is also a sheltered bay in Cala Llombards nearby.

This facility is truly unique as it offers not only accommodation and top-notch service but also a spa and a large wellness area with expert doctors, yoga classes and treatments such as craniosacral therapy, reiki, osteopathy, Ayurvedic Abhyanga, massage, facials and much more. Various events, meditation sessions, transformational sessions and even business meetings are also organised throughout the year. However, wellness is not an obligatory part of your stay at Cal Reiet as the hotel's main mission is to make every guest feel comfortable. So, instead of spa treatments, you can easily spend your time by the huge swimming pool surrounded by blooming bougainvilleas and shady palm trees.

The main building, built in 1881, retains a bohemian atmosphere in every corner. The communal living room is filled with interesting details, such as a grand piano and soft sofas, where the resident cats like to relax.

In addition, the hotel has gardens with almond, olive and fig trees and a terrace lit at night by burning torches and candles. You can choose to stay in one of the 15 rooms with no TVs and bright details for the ultimate in relaxation.

El Llorenc Parc De La Mar

The highlight of this amazing hotel is its rooftop, which houses the longest infinity pool in Palma and offers views of the vastness of the Balearic Sea. There is also a waterfront lounge area with aquamarine umbrellas and furniture in shades of green, blue and indigo.

Adjacent to the historic hammams of Palma in Parc de la Mar, the hotel reflects the medieval heritage of its La Calatrava location but does so through the lens of an ultra-modern design. Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland used 27 different geometric tiles throughout the space, which are all variations of the Arabic star.

During the construction, architect Pedro Rabassa discovered an 11th-century Moorish oven in the foundation. When creating the design, Ehrland worked without dogma, freely adding botanical accents: local Santania stone pillars and Versailles-style parquetry are harmoniously combined with bright palm tree carpets, peacock-shaped chairs and feathered headdresses.

The peculiarities of the region are reflected in the pictures of the Palm Tree, the exotic pool decorated with green tiles and the hammam. In addition, the Tannur restaurant serves traditional hearty Majorcan dishes prepared by a team led by Chef Santi Taura.

Castell Son Claret

Forests, gardens, farmland and an amazing mansion amidst 132 hectares of grounds: Castell Son Claret hotel is one of the largest private country estates in Mallorca. The hotel is owned by German billionaire Klaus-Michael Kühne. The entrepreneur turned the 15th-century castle into a small but very beautiful establishment with only 43 rooms. The stylish interior of one of the best hotels in Mallorca was designed by Munich-based designer Daniel Silverstein, who successfully combined various textures, such as leather and glass, marble and wood. What is most striking is that the lavish style of the premises does not overwhelm the deeply rustic character of the grand estate.

The countryside complex has an excellent restaurant Sa Clastra, run by Jordi Canto. The chef was able to create a menu that combines culinary classics with modern gastronomic touches.

Brondo Architect

Brondo Architect hotel in Palma is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The modern-style hotel is especially attractive to design connoisseurs who will be delighted with the perfect lighting, retro furniture, ethnic carpets and original flooring. The service here is just right to make guests' stay comfortable without being conspicuous. Brondo Architect is more than just a hotel, it is a real exhibition hall that stands out from other establishments on the island.

Calatrava Hotel

Calatrava Hotel in Palma is located in a small picturesque park near the old harbour. The hotel occupies a XIX century building with five floors, where there are only 17 rooms, including eight suites. The suites, which measure 70 square metres or more and offer breathtaking sea views, are particularly popular. Key facilities available to guests include

  • a modern spa centre Ç Wellness Studio, where you can enjoy aromatherapy, scrubbing, manicures, pedicures, etc;
  • gourmet restaurant DINS;
  • indoor and outdoor swimming pool with umbrellas, sun loungers and a bar;
  • a coffee shop;

For a large-format panorama of the Mediterranean coast, the entire Bay of Palma, which stretches all the way to Cap Blanc, and the Château de Bellevue, head to the rooftop terrace.

Hotel Portixol

A 15-minute drive from Palma's marina, Portixol's old harbour, with its traditional Majorcan fishing boats, looks like something from a bygone era. This feeling continues from the moment you step inside this magnificent Mallorca hotel and are struck by the modern open plan and palette of soft turquoise, white and blue hues. The design was created by Spanish architect Rafael Vidal. The rooms with marble floors are furnished with mid-century furniture and natural wood.

Hotel Portixol attracts not only travellers but also locals who like to come here to have a few cocktails in the evening at the bar. In addition, there is a spa with two treatment rooms, a sauna and a small gym. French doors lead out onto the pool terrace, where you can relax and enjoy great snacks such as fried mini scallops.

If you want to venture outside the hotel, we recommend booking a table at the family-run Sa Roqueta restaurant located next door. This restaurant specialises in local lobster and traditional caldereta (seafood stew).
