Vienna Gets a Direct Bratislava Airport Bus
Slovak Lines is launching a direct bus service linking central Vienna with Bratislava Airport from 13 May 2026. The route will run without intermediate stops, making it the fastest bus option on this corridor, according to the company. Eight services a day are planned in each direction, aimed mainly at airport passengers using flights at Bratislava’s M. R. Štefánik Airport.
The new line comes as Bratislava Airport expands its flight offer and demand grows for better ground transport in the region. Slovak Lines said the route is aimed partly at Vienna-based passengers using departures from Bratislava, especially on low-cost services. It will also add another link between Bratislava Airport and Nivy bus station, where domestic tickets for that section will be available.
Key Details
- Launch date: 13 May 2026;

- Route: Nivy bus station, Bratislava Airport and central Vienna;
- Tickets: starting at €7.90;
- Buses: newer vehicles with modern safety features.
- Tickets will be sold online, in the app and directly from the driver.
The route could make Bratislava Airport more practical for people based in Vienna, especially when flight prices or routes are better there. It also gives arriving visitors an easier way to combine both capitals in one trip: Bratislava’s Old Town, castle and Danube riverfront, plus Vienna’s museums, coffee houses, palaces and wider rail links across Austria.
The useful part is the lack of extra stops. Airport transfers often become annoying when they involve changes, unclear platforms or long gaps between services. A direct bus gives passengers a cleaner plan before or after a flight, particularly with luggage. Price will still matter, but the route gives Bratislava Airport a stronger link with Vienna’s travel market.
