For people with special taste preferences, there may be certain problems with food in a particular country. In particular, vegetarians have to pay special attention to their diet at resorts and in countries where they go on vacation.

However, if you consume exclusively plant-based foods and are planning a vacation in the Maldives, you can easily find wonderful and delicious dishes of non-animal origin. What to eat without endangering yourself and the environment is reported by NewsBytes.

Mugu soup

This soup is a popular Maldivian dish made from yellow lentils, curry leaves, raw mango, and coconut milk. To enhance the flavour, spicy seasonings are added, including ginger, garlic, cumin, and chili. It is quite versatile and healthy, and therefore perfect for dinner.

Kopee fathu satani with roshi

Kopee fathu satani is a healthy salad made from chard leaves, onions, blue cheese and passion fruit. This dish is very popular in the Maldives. It is hearty and tastes great for lunch or dinner. Locals recommend eating it with Indian roshi flatbread.

Vegetable spheres

This dish is similar to Indian kofta meatballs, but instead of lamb, these balls are stuffed with vegetables. The dish also includes pandan leaves and coconut milk. They are steamed and served with rice.

Maafuh

Everyone should try maafuh because it is considered the favourite dessert of the locals for a reason. It is made from millet powder, bananas, palm syrup, and grated coconut. It is usually served during Ramadan, but it is so delicious that it can be seen all year round in any restaurant in the Maldives.
