Two New EasyJet Routes Open Southern Europe to Bristol Flyers
easyJet has introduced two new direct routes from Bristol Airport as part of its summer 2024 operational update. Flights to Almeria began on 24 June, while the first service to Palermo took off on 26 June. Departures to Almeria now run twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Palermo is served on Thursdays and Sundays. The routes were added alongside wider network changes across the UK.
With the addition of these destinations, easyJet now operates 83 routes from Bristol Airport. The new services were confirmed in the airline’s June announcement, which outlined its seasonal adjustments and the expansion of its aircraft fleet based in the UK. The company stated that these changes are part of its scheduled summer network, with no further detail provided on the selection of specific cities.
Travellers arriving in Almeria can access the Alcazaba of Almeria, a large Moorish fortress dating from the 10th century that overlooks the old town and harbour. Also located in the city centre is the Cathedral of Almeria, a fortified Renaissance-Gothic structure completed in the 16th century. You can walk to both spots from the city centre without needing to hop on a bus or grab a taxi after your ride from the airport.
In Palermo, visitors landing at the airport can reach the Palatine Chapel, housed within the Palazzo dei Normanni, known for its well-preserved mosaics and historical significance. Ballarò market sits in the city like a living maze of noise and smells, where crates of fruit, sizzling snacks, and everyday bits fill the narrow alleys as they have for centuries. These locations are accessible by local transport or within walking distance from central Palermo.
According to easyJet's official release, the launch of the Almeria and Palermo routes is part of a broader expansion of UK-based services during the summer travel period. The company has stationed additional aircraft at several UK airports, including Bristol. The two routes follow previously announced changes and are now included in the airline’s published flight schedule for the 2024 season.
