The Times and Sunday Times have released their annual list of the 100 best places to stay in the UK for 2024. Among the best establishments, 2 luxury hotels located a few hours' drive from Manchester won in various categories.

It is noted that to determine the winners, experts carefully weighed various aspects, ranging from interiors to food service. Thus, the Langdale Chase Hotel was rated by experts as a place of "sophisticated revival" and Farlam Hall as "gourmet hotel of the year," according to the Manchester Evening News.

This Gothic hotel on the shores of Lake Windermere reopened last December after a lengthy renovation. Experts praised its interior, local cinema, bar and picturesque garden.

"Its grand interiors with minstrel galleries, exquisitely carved oak panels and stained glass windows successfully combine luxury with a winningly informal atmosphere," the report says.

The hotel offers accommodation in 30 rooms, 7 of which are suites with lake views. There are also 5 rooms available for dogs. However, for those who want a more private vacation, there is a service for booking a private Boathouse suite, which is located separately from the main house by the lake.

Farlam Hall

The Farlam Hall Hotel in Brampton, in the Cumbrian countryside, has captivated with its culinary diversity and excellence. This hotel is home to the Cedar Tree restaurant by Chef Hrishikesh Desai, which was awarded a Michelin star earlier this year.

The experts noted the successful combination of English ingredients and the subtle use of spices. They said: "Don't mind the Cumbrian wind - dining here is a breath of fresh, invigorating air."
