New Sleeper Train to Connect Milan and Lecce

A new sleeper train service is set to revolutionize travel in Italy, connecting Milan in the north to Lecce in the south. Operated by Trenitalia, this service aims to facilitate seamless travel across the country, catering to both locals and tourists alike.

While Trenitalia currently offers daily services between Milan and Lecce, the introduction of the weekend sleeper service marks a significant milestone. Departing from Milan at 10:45 pm, the train will arrive in Lecce at 7:57 am the following morning, providing travelers with a convenient overnight journey.

The route will include stops at key stations such as Milano Rogoredo, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, and Bologna Centrale, allowing passengers to explore various destinations along the way. From picturesque towns like Lecce and Brindisi to bustling cities like Bari, the new service opens up a world of possibilities for travelers.

Ticket prices start at €39 (£33) for "FrecciaYoung" passengers, with super economy tickets priced from €55 (£47) for adults. Additionally, upgrade options to Business and Executive cabins are available for those seeking enhanced comfort during their journey.

The launch of this new route is part of Trenitalia's broader summer program, which includes the introduction of several other routes across the country. From daily connections between Milan and Reggio Calabria to routes between Venice, Rome, and various destinations in southern Italy, travelers will have more options than ever before.

While the affordable ticket prices make this sleeper train service accessible to many, passengers should note that there are no beds onboard. Instead, travelers will sleep in standard seats, with no dining cart available. However, onboard vending machines offer refreshments to ensure a comfortable journey.
