Meliá Picks Corfu for Its Next Luxury Stay
Meliá Hotels International will open its first hotel in Corfu this summer, taking over the current St Georges Bay Country Club & Spa on the island’s northern coast. The property will initially operate under the Affiliated by Meliá brand before a full renovation turns it into The Meliá Collection Corfu in 2027, adding another Greek island address to the group’s portfolio.
Corfu hotel plans and opening timeline
- Hotel: St Georges Bay Country Club & Spa
- Future name: The Meliá Collection Corfu
- Location: Northern Corfu, Greece
- Opening phase: Summer 2026 under Affiliated by Meliá
- Rebrand: Planned for 2027 after renovation
- Rooms: 86 at launch, rising to 140 by 2028
- Facilities: Restaurant, lobby bar, beach club, spa, gym and MICE spaces
The signing brings Meliá’s Greek portfolio to seven hotels and gives the group its first address in Corfu. The property will be on the island’s northern coast, a useful base for travellers who want beaches and smaller coastal villages rather than staying only around Corfu Town.
Nearby places include Barbati, Nissaki, Kaminaki, Krouzeri and Agni, known for clear water, boat trips and waterfront restaurants. The location also keeps travellers within reach of Corfu’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, Venetian architecture, museums, shopping streets and evening walks in the island’s main hub.
The bigger upgrade will come after renovation, when the hotel becomes The Meliá Collection Corfu and expands to 140 rooms by 2028. For visitors, the appeal is a more polished resort option in northern Corfu, with beach access, wellness facilities, dining and event spaces in one place.
