Gatwick Gets Its First Ottawa Flights
London Gatwick has welcomed its first direct flights to Ottawa, with Air Transat launching a new seasonal link to the Canadian capital. The route gives UK passengers a non-stop option for reaching Ottawa for the first time. It also adds another Canadian service to Gatwick’s long-haul network for the summer season.
The seasonal service will operate from 15 May to 23 October 2026, with three weekly flights between London Gatwick and Ottawa. The non-stop journey takes around seven hours and 15 minutes. Gatwick said the route adds to its summer network of nearly 230 destinations, including 56 long-haul services across North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.
Flight Schedule
The London Gatwick–Ottawa service will run as follows:
- London Gatwick to Ottawa: departs 09:40, arrives 12:40 local time;
- Ottawa to London Gatwick: departs 19:40, arrives 07:55 the next day;
- Frequency: three times a week;
- Operating period: until 23 October 2026.
Ottawa gives visitors access to Canada’s capital without changing planes in Toronto or Montreal. The city offers Parliament Hill, national museums, the Rideau Canal, ByWard Market and easy links to rivers, parks and nearby outdoor areas. The route may also help passengers visiting family and friends, while Canadian travellers get another direct way into London and onward routes through Gatwick.
The useful part of this launch is not only the new city pair, but the type of trip it supports. Ottawa is often treated as a stop behind Canada’s bigger gateways, yet a direct Gatwick flight makes it easier to plan a capital-city break or start a wider Ontario and Quebec itinerary with one less connection.
