Four Seasons is entering the maritime travel sector with the launch of its first yacht, Four Seasons I. The vessel will carry only 95 suites and is scheduled to operate seasonal routes. Summer sailings will take place in the Mediterranean, while winter voyages will move to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The project marks the brand’s expansion beyond hotels into sea-based travel, reflecting growing demand for smaller, more personalised journeys.

Mediterranean routes are expected to include the Greek islands, the Dalmatian coast and destinations in Croatia, Montenegro and the French Riviera. During winter, itineraries will focus on the Caribbean region, with ports such as St Lucia, Martinique, Barbados and Dominica. Unlike large cruise ships, smaller vessels can enter ports where bigger ships are limited because of overtourism, which opens different route options.

The yacht design draws inspiration from historic superyachts while offering modern onboard facilities. Suites include floor-to-ceiling windows, and the vessel maintains a high staff-to-guest ratio. Dining concepts feature menus developed with chefs from Michelin-starred Four Seasons restaurants. Facilities include spa treatments, deck activities and dining venues intended to provide varied options during multi-day voyages.

What travellers may find on board

  • 95 suites with sea views
  • 11 restaurants and bars
  • L’Oceana Spa with hammam and sauna
  • Watersport access platforms
  • Tailored cultural and dining experiences

More time at each stop may give travellers the chance to explore destinations without rushing through short visits typical of larger cruise schedules. A slower pace can make it easier to plan museum visits, coastal walks or local dining without tight time limits. This format may suit travellers who prefer flexible days ashore and the possibility to experience destinations beyond organised group excursions.

Interest in yacht-style travel has grown as several hospitality brands expand into smaller vessels. Recent launches from Ritz-Carlton and planned projects from Orient Express and Aman indicate wider investment in this segment. These developments suggest more choice in how to explore coastal regions, particularly for those seeking alternatives to large cruise ships and routes that include smaller ports.
