Train travel stands as the most sustainable mode of transport, and top European train carriers are further reducing their environmental impact. These companies connect key destinations across Europe, from Paris to Prague and Seville to Split, while investing in green technology and eco-friendly practices.

Eurostar

Eurostar offers exceptional service with a significantly reduced carbon footprint—95% less than flying. For instance, the popular route from London to Paris produces only 2.4 kg of CO₂ per passenger, compared to 66 kg by plane. Eurostar has switched from plastic bottles to aluminum cans, uses plant-based cups, and offers eco-friendly cutlery and straws.

Deutsche Bahn (DB)

DB connects Germany's major cities like Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, and Hamburg with surrounding countries on a punctual schedule. The carrier aims to become climate neutral by 2040, phasing out diesel and adopting greener electricity and heat transition technologies.

TGV Lyria

TGV Lyria, providing high-speed travel between France and Switzerland, boasts zero CO₂ emissions from its fully electric fleet. Recognized for its top environmental performance, TGV Lyria sources regional produce for onboard meals to minimize environmental impact.

Travel advisors can book tickets for these and other rail carriers through Rail Europe, offering the widest selection and easy multi-carrier booking options. This platform simplifies green travel choices across Europe, enhancing accessibility to sustainable travel.
