Millions visit the iconic building every year, but many of them have left critical reviews on TripAdvisor. Some offended visitors say they will never come here again because it smells bad, is too cold, and is too crowded.

"People come from all over the world to see the residence and pay £32 during the summer months to see the state rooms. However, they are not always delighted after their visit," the Daily Star website writes.

One of them, named Petal, says they came from Malaysia last year: "Since we were in London, we decided this was something we had to do. It was full of people, it was hard to take a good photo, and the street smelled like urine. We will probably only visit it once and that's it."

Another dissatisfied customer from Melbourne arrived in January and did not rate his visit, writing: "Accidentally arrived at Buckingham Palace when the security change started. There were so many people it was hard to get through.

"During the changing of the guard, the music was faint, you could only hear snatches of it... it was hard to see what was going on until they went out the gate. We did not take a tour and did not go inside."

Another visitor, Dave from Wales, also agreed that the grounds looked neglected, adding, "It's been many years since we last visited and the difference was huge, it looks dated and a bit drab now, could do with a tidy up."

Nevertheless, many people recommend this trip, and the palace received 4.5 stars on a travel advice website.

Following the unexpected news that King Charles is suffering from an as yet unknown form of cancer, many well-wishers have taken to social media to express words of support, and even Simon Dorante-Day, the man who claims to be King Charles' secret son, has sent his best wishes.
