airBaltic has announced a larger network for the 2026/2027 winter season, adding 12 new routes operating between late October 2026 and the end of March 2027. The Latvian airline will run extra flights from Riga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Kuusamo, linking northern winter destinations with warmer holiday locations. The timetable shows steady interest in winter sun trips as well as travel to Nordic regions known for seasonal landscapes and cold-weather activities.

The airline will increase activity at its existing seasonal base in Gran Canaria and open a new seasonal base in Tenerife. Weekend services will also operate from Kuusamo in Finland, known for winter sports opportunities. According to airBaltic’s network management team, planning winter routes well in advance allows the airline to respond to changing travel preferences and ensure suitable options for leisure trips during the colder season.

New Winter Routes

  • Riga – Kuusamo
  • Gran Canaria – Warsaw, Poznan, Katowice, Liège
  • Tenerife – Liège, Ljubljana, Palanga
  • Kuusamo – Berlin, Hamburg, Manchester, London Gatwick

These additions expand access to Finnish Lapland for skiing and winter activities, while also improving connections to the Canary Islands, where milder temperatures attract visitors seeking seasonal contrast. Direct links between regional European cities and island destinations may reduce the need for connecting flights, making winter breaks easier to organise across several travel periods between late autumn and early spring.

airBaltic continues operating one of Europe’s youngest fleets, based on Airbus A220-300 aircraft, offering both Economy and Business Class options on all routes. The airline has also introduced high-speed Starlink internet on many flights. Over three decades, airBaltic has built a network linking the Baltic region with around 80 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Caucasus, supporting steady regional connectivity.

The additional routes provide more choice when planning winter trips combining ski resorts, northern landscapes and warmer coastal locations. Earlier schedule planning gives more flexibility when selecting travel dates during busy holiday periods. The wider network offers more direct flights to both warm islands and northern winter destinations, helping people choose between different types of winter trips without needing extra connections or complicated routes.
