AirAsia Thailand is extending its domestic reach by launching direct flights from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to Buriram, Surat Thani, and Narathiwat, beginning 1 July 2025. This move boosts the airline’s Suvarnabhumi network to a total of nine routes. Promotional fares start at 880 THB, with bookings open from 24 March to 24 April for travel until 25 October 2025 via the AirAsia MOVE platform or the airline’s official website.

The new flights reflect AirAsia’s strategy to decentralize operations by strengthening Suvarnabhumi’s role in its domestic network. Buriram will be served three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while daily services will connect the airport to Surat Thani and Narathiwat. This expansion helps accommodate travelers landing at Suvarnabhumi who prefer seamless domestic connections without the need to transit through Don Mueang Airport.

The new route to Surat Thani offers direct access to one of southern Thailand’s key transport hubs, widely used to reach popular islands like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao. The province also features attractions such as the Ratchaprapha Dam and Khao Sok National Park, making it an appealing gateway for nature enthusiasts and island-hopping tourists alike.

Buriram, located in northeastern Thailand, is emerging as a destination for sports tourism, particularly with its international-standard football stadium and motorsport circuit. Meanwhile, Narathiwat in the deep south offers quiet beaches, traditional Malay-influenced culture, and a slower pace of life that may appeal to travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations far from Thailand’s main tourist trails.

These new links are not just routing extensions, rather they reflect changes of travel patterns and the need for a more diversified access to Thailand. For both Thai nationals and international visitors, the changes mean better integration, fewer logistical hurdles, and the opportunity to discover less-traveled parts of the country without breaking the budget.
