What may be behind the sudden "free ice cream party" during a cruise: blogger tells a sad theory
Cruise travel can sometimes be marred by the death of one or more passengers, as there are often elderly people and other tourists who may be in poor health. Some ships have a specially equipped morgue for such cases, but sometimes there is not enough space, the network said.
Tiktoker Dara Starr Tucker, who worked on a cruise ship, shared a story about how crew members got out of an unpleasant situation. She heard about it from her colleagues on one of the ships.
According to the blogger, who has been singing in the middle of the ocean for many years, there are cases when up to 10 people die on board. According to her friends, freezers can be used to keep their bodies cold.
"If the crew suddenly provides passengers with a bunch of ice cream - a free ice cream party - it's often because more people have died on the ship than there are places in the morgue," the blogger said.
She had not witnessed any tragic events, but crew members told her that the ship's morgue can accommodate about 7 people on average.
That is, if more passengers died in the middle of the water, their bodies should still be brought to the shore, even if it means freeing up space in the freezer, the acquaintances explained to Tiktokera.
There are cases in history when the relatives of the deceased sued the company over such an incident. Last year, a family filed a lawsuit against Celebrity Cruises, claiming that the staff kept the corpse in a refrigerator designed to transport drinks, which allegedly caused the body to decompose faster than it could have.
