TSA Issues Travel Advisory for Augusta National PGA Masters® 2024 Attendees
As the 2024 PGA Masters® at Augusta National Golf Club concludes, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) alerts travelers about the anticipated spike in passenger volume at Augusta Regional Airport (AGS). From April 10-15, AGS expects an unprecedented influx of travelers, marking potentially record-breaking numbers, especially on April 12 and April 15.
The collaborative efforts of TSA, the airport, and airlines over recent months aim to streamline the travel process during this peak period. Enhanced staffing, including additional TSA officers and canine teams, will support the smooth facilitation of passenger and luggage screening. To avoid delays, passengers are encouraged to arrive at least two hours before their flight departure times throughout the next week.
Post-championship, a significant uptick in golf bag check-ins is expected. To expedite screening, travelers with golf bags are advised to remove any prohibited items and allow extra time for these checks. Cleanliness of the golf equipment is also crucial as any residue or debris could set off security alarms, potentially causing further delays.
Passengers are urged to plan ahead for their journey from Augusta, considering the projected high traffic. The TSA’s advisory serves as a reminder to ensure a smoother transition through airport security, highlighting the importance of preparation and patience during this bustling period. With the anticipated surge in travel, this year’s Masters® attendees are poised for a busy but efficiently managed departure experience, courtesy of the heightened security and operational measures in place at AGS.
