Tourists complained about the "ridiculous ceremony" of hotel check-in and explained what a "perfect" check-in looks like
Travelers criticized the complicated procedure for checking in and out of a hotel. According to many tourists, they should be given a room key quickly, without having to fill out documents and instructions.
A devastating post appeared on the travelerau Instagram page, which is run by travel experts to make life easier for travelers, and was supported by other hotel guests who were dissatisfied with the procedure.
Matthew Klages, Ivanhoe East, Australia, called the current check-in procedure akin to a "meaningless ceremony."
It is especially unclear to tourists why hotels need their data, which they have already provided during online booking.
"It's like some kind of meaningless ceremony where you're asked to fill out a form, confirm your car registration, make a $1 credit card transaction, and then they give you your card back, and then proceed to encode the room keys, specially staple and fold the papers, and then give you a full explanation of how the room keys work, or how the Wi-Fi works," the author of the post was outraged.
In the comments, other travelers confirmed that the best thing for them would be to get a room key as soon as possible without having to stay at the front desk.
