The most popular destination, according to Airbnb: What tourists can expect in Marrakech in 2024
Marrakech has made it onto the list of the world's most popular vacation spots, ranking sixth among the 24 most enticing cities to visit this year.
This information comes from the Airbnb accommodation booking platform, which compiled the list based on its data. The North Africa Post reported on this.
As a centuries-old stone city, Marrakech serves as the tourist hub of Morocco, renowned for its vibrant nightlife. One of its highlights is the charming central square, Jamaa el-Fna, situated within the Medina of Marrakech and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Despite the challenges posed by last year's earthquake, which devastated several villages in the Atlas Mountains, Marrakech has demonstrated resilience as a tourist destination. In November 2023 alone, the number of visitors to Morocco, despite the natural disasters, surpassed the 2019 record, reaching 13.2 million tourists.
In anticipation of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Morocco aims to attract 17.5 million tourists by 2026. Additionally, Ryanair is set to launch flights connecting nine Moroccan cities in the summer of 2024. Further plans include the addition of 24 new international destinations, linking Morocco with key European markets.
