The Mars mission has started in Armenia: what to expect. Photos and videos
After months of intensive preparation, the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) Mars mission AMADEE-24 has been launched in Armenia.
AMADEE-24 is being implemented in cooperation with the Armenian Space Agency. In total, more than 200 researchers from 25 countries are involved in the international mission under the Austrian leadership, Mediamax reports.
At a specially equipped test site in Armenia, a crew of six highly qualified specialists will conduct experiments in the fields of human life, geology, and robotics to prepare for future Mars exploration missions.
The crew members are artificial intelligence expert Carmen Köhler (Germany), astrophysicist Inigo Muñoz Ellors (Spain), aerospace engineer Simone Paternostro (Italy), and astrophysicist Thomas Weinen (Netherlands). The group is chaired by healthcare expert Anika Mechlis (Germany), with physicist Robert Wild (Austria) as her deputy.
The astronauts will live and work in a specially created space and will be able to leave it only in the OeWF prototype suit.
As TravelWise reported, 2024 will be rich in a variety of iconic space missions that will delight enthusiasts. They range from moon landings to crewed missions, new rocket launches, and the exploration of Jupiter's moon Europa.
