The fate of a Russian airline plane that stood in a field for 4 months after an emergency landing has been decided
The Russian airline Ural Airlines failed to repair an Airbus A320-200 that made an emergency landing in the middle of a field last September. For 4 months, the Russians were deciding what to do with the plane, and eventually it was decided that it would be dismantled.
This will happen not soon, but when the weather conditions are better. Russian media reported that despite the engine's serviceability, it was not profitable for the company to repair the plane.
On September 12 last year, a Ural Airlines plane made an emergency landing in a field near the Siberian village of Moskovka. All 159 passengers, including 21 children, and six crew members were not injured.
Initially, the carrier made excuses, claiming that it wanted to take the A320 out of the field.
However, after 5 months of renting the field, for which they paid $11350, the airline changed its plans dramatically.
It was believed that the plane would be able to take off when the field was frozen, creating a kind of runway. However, it seems that the Russians failed to make such a maneuver, and the plane will have to be dismantled in the field.
Now the territory is being guarded, and the landowner has received a deposit until next fall with an option to extend the lease.
