The famous British landmark, which underwent a £10 million reconstruction, will open in the summer of 2024
This year, Britons and visitors will have the opportunity to explore a landmark from Norman England, which will open its doors after an extensive renovation. Norwich Castle, which underwent a £10 million refurbishment, will transport visitors back to the 12th century.
Restored medieval floors and rooms furnished with furniture and household items from that era will breathe new life into the Norman palace. According to The Scottish Sun, the medieval fortress is expected to open in the summer of 2024.
It has been recreated to capture the atmosphere of that time as closely as possible, while also incorporating many new spaces and opportunities.
For instance, a unique new gallery, developed in collaboration with the British Museum, will be the first medieval gallery outside London.
It will showcase over 1,000 historical artifacts, 50 of which are provided by the British Museum, offering tourists insight into the lives of people during that period.
Interactive exhibits, audio-visual elements, and virtual reality will help visitors immerse themselves in that era.
Guests will become acquainted with individuals who lived or visited the castle in the 1100s through personalized panels that make history accessible to all. Projections will animate the castle walls, and virtual reality will offer a more immersive exploration of these spaces.
As a Grade I listed historical monument, the castle in Norfolk is a must-visit for anyone interested in learning about British history.
As TravelWise previously reported, Scotland is worth a trip for those who love medieval castles and delicious food.
