TAP Adds Economy Prime With More Space On Long Flights

TAP Air Portugal will introduce a new Economy Prime cabin on long-haul flights starting 1 June 2026, adding another option between standard Economy and Business Class. The new section will be available on Airbus A330 and A321LR aircraft and can already be booked through the airline’s sales channels and travel agents. The cabin is designed as a separate space within Economy, offering a quieter environment on longer routes.
Economy Prime has 12 seats placed directly behind Business Class, arranged in rows of four. The window-side seat is not used, so passengers have more space next to them during the flight. With fewer people seated in this part of the cabin, the atmosphere is generally quieter, which can make long flights easier to spend time in.
Additional services begin at the airport, where Economy Prime passengers receive access to dedicated check-in desks, priority baggage handling and Fast Track security where available. Priority boarding is also included. On board, travellers receive an upgraded meal with two hot dish options, the possibility to select meals in advance, a comfort kit and an improved pillow intended to make longer flights more manageable.
The new cabin may appeal to those travelling long distances to destinations across Europe, North and South America, or Africa within TAP’s network. Extra space and quieter seating can make overnight flights or daytime intercontinental journeys easier to handle, particularly when travelling for leisure breaks, visiting family abroad or combining multiple destinations in one trip.
Introducing an intermediate option between Economy and Business reflects changing expectations around comfort during long flights. Some passengers look for additional space without moving to premium cabins, especially on routes lasting several hours. The addition provides another way to plan long-haul journeys with slightly more privacy and convenience while keeping travel within the Economy category.
