SkyTeam, a major aviation alliance, strengthens its cooperation in China
One of the largest alliances, SkyTeam, is expanding its ties in China. In Greater China, it is a major player in the aviation market.
It includes three major regional members: China Eastern, Xiamen Air, and China Airlines. Travelandworldworld describes how the presence in the Chinese market will grow.
In addition, it includes a team of 13 SkyTeam subsidiaries that operate flights to, from, and within the region. The aviation association serves 160 cities in Greater China. The airline's penetration into the Chinese aviation market was strengthened through a partnership with China United Airlines, which significantly expanded the network and increased its competitiveness.
It is noted that since the beginning of the year, the total number of available seats in kilometres (ASK) provided by SkyTeam members to serve the Greater China market has increased by 50% compared to the previous year.
At the same time, the number of corporate trips increased due to the growing demand for business travel.
This figure increased by almost 200% over the year, offering Chinese companies cost-effective global travel solutions.
Customized solutions
To be eligible for a SkyTeam Special Corporate Contract (SCCC), companies must be registered in China and show that they have spent at least RMB 2 million on airfare between three or more SkyTeam airlines. Of this amount, at least 1 million yuan must be spent on international flights. Each company can choose which SkyTeam members they want to make a deal with provided the trip starts in China.
To simplify the process, one representative will act as a liaison for travel managers, eliminating the need for them to coordinate with multiple airlines.
