Royal Caribbean Group to Expand Fleet with Seventh Oasis Class Ship
Royal Caribbean Group (NYSE: RCL) has inked a deal with the renowned French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique to commission yet another Oasis Class vessel, slated to join the Royal Caribbean International fleet in 2028.
This latest addition comes hot on the heels of the eagerly awaited launch of Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, scheduled for this summer. Jason Liberty, the president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, expressed anticipation for the debut of the new ship while already setting sights on its successor.
The announcement arrives shortly after Royal Caribbean Group’s introduction of three other new ships: Silver Nova, Celebrity Ascent, and Icon of the Seas, indicating an exciting phase for the company. Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, emphasized the collaborative spirit with Chantiers de l’Atlantique in bringing the seventh Oasis Class vessel to fruition.
Since its groundbreaking launch with Oasis of the Seas in 2009, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class ships have redefined the cruising experience, catering to millions of travelers worldwide. These ships have introduced innovative concepts such as the neighborhood layout, split superstructure design, and multi-dimensional entertainment experiences spanning air, ice, water, and stage. The forthcoming addition to the Oasis Class lineup promises to uphold this tradition with a blend of revolutionary features and signature experiences.
Laurent Castaing, the general manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, expressed satisfaction with the continued partnership with Royal Caribbean Group, highlighting the track record of innovation and excellence in shipbuilding. The order is contingent upon finalizing financing arrangements, expected to conclude later this year.
