Polar explorers show "climbing penguins" nesting at an altitude of almost 300 meters: video
Polar explorers from the Akademik Vernadsky Arctic Research Station have spotted a sub-Arctic penguin that has built a nest with its mate at an altitude of almost 300 meters above sea level. They call this case special.
This was reported by the National Antarctic Science Center."To understand how high it is: Vadym Tkachenko, a biologist of the 28th UAE, who counted the birds, went down from there for more than half an hour .The scientist found the climbing penguin with a chick at Cape Tuksen on the Kyiv Peninsula. It is located near Galindez Island, where there is a Ukrainian Antarctic station "Akademik Vernadsky," the polar explorers say.
Until now, the highest points where scientists have found penguin nests were rocks on Booth and Hovgard Islands - their height reached 180 meters above sea level.
As TravelWise reported earlier, polar explorers announced a penguin baby boom in Antarctica.
