Passenger charges at Heathrow Airport may fall by up to 6%
Passengers at London's Heathrow Airport can expect a reduction in the cost of service fees of up to 6%. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced its intention to adjust the limits on fees set for 2025 and 2026.
Thus, passenger fees will decrease by about £1.52 to £23.72 in 2025 and by £1.58 to £23.70 in 2026. This was reported in the Daily Mail.
It is reported that the State Aviation Administration analyzed the airport's revenues, debts, and pension costs since the introduction of quarantine. It turned out that the fee per passenger averaged £31.57 in 2022-2023. According to forecasts, this year its cost will be £25.43.
It is noted that over the past 4 years, last year Heathrow was able to set the third highest rate in its history. Then, the largest international airport in the UK and Europe received up to 79.2 million passengers and made a pre-tax profit of £38 million compared to a loss of £684 million the previous year.
Given the recovery in travel demand, the airport expects to attract a record 81.4 million passengers in 2024.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that Heathrow Airport may lose its capacity.
