In one of the districts of the Norwegian capital, Oslo, on the night of Saturday, January 6, the thermometer dropped below -31.1°C. This is the lowest temperature in the history of meteorological observations.
According to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, the temperature in Oslo has not risen above -21°C over the past day. And around 9 a.m. local time on January 6, the temperature in the city was at -29°C, as reported by Deutsche Welle.
As noted, despite Oslo's northern location, such severe frosts are extremely unusual for the capital.
According to the American project National Centers for Environmental Information, the average minimum temperature in Oslo in January usually stays above -10°C.
