Norse Atlantic Airways will connect New York and Athens
Norse Atlantic Airways has announced the launch of a new route connecting New York (JFK) with Athens. Norse will become the newest airline in Athens in 2024, adding its first flight from Athens.
The airline has decided to add Athens to its network due to strong demand from American travelers seeking to experience Greece's enchanting landscapes and cultural treasures. The Athens - New York (JFK) route promises to meet this demand, giving travelers the opportunity to explore the rich history, picturesque islands and warm hospitality for which Greece is known. With unparalleled connectivity and world-class amenities, Athens International Airport provides a seamless and enjoyable journey for passengers wishing to explore Athens, as well as those traveling in transit between the United States and the Greek islands. "We are pleased to announce the launch of ticket sales on our Athens - New York JFK route. This launch underscores our commitment to meeting the growing travel needs of our passengers. We believe that this route will not only meet the demand for travel to Greece, but also create opportunities for cultural exchange and business cooperation between these two vibrant destinations," says Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways.
Ms. Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications and Marketing at Athens International Airport, said: "This is a truly exciting development for our airport, our city and our country, which improves connectivity and offers a wide range of travel options for the public. The US has traditionally been the fastest growing market for Athens and especially in 2023, passenger numbers between ATH and all US destinations have increased dramatically, showing double-digit growth compared to the pre-pandemic era, with New York topping the list. We are absolutely confident that the route will be a huge success as passengers enjoy the great product that Norse Atlantic Airways offers."
Norse will deploy a B787 Dreamliner to serve this route, departing Athens on days 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7. The first flight will depart Athens on May 30, 2024, departing at 07:30 local time and arriving in New York (JFK) at 11:20 local time.
This new service will complement Emirates' year-round flights to New York (EWR), Delta Airlines' nearly year-round flights to New York (JFK) and American Airlines' seasonal flights to New York (JFK) and United Airlines' flights to New York (EWR). Thus, Athens will be connected to New York 40 times a week.
