New Championship Golf Course Opens in Southwest Florida
The golfing scene in Southwest Florida has been enriched with the opening of the Saltleaf Golf Preserve. This new public facility, featuring an 18-hole championship course designed by golf legend Raymond Floyd, has been unveiled by London Bay Development Group. Located in the 500-acre coastal village of Saltleaf on Estero Bay, the course is a testament to Floyd's design philosophy of harmonizing with the native Florida landscape.
The Preserve stretches over 150 acres, with a course rating of 72.8 and a slope rating of 126. It introduces unique design elements like naturally exposed sandy areas, water-efficient grasses, and abundant lakes, offering a challenging yet scenic golf experience.
In addition to the championship course, the Preserve boasts a 40,000-square-foot driving range and a 12,500-square-foot clubhouse equipped with an upscale restaurant, bar, and pro shop. Managed by Troon, the global leader in golf and club management, Saltleaf Golf Preserve promises high standards in all its offerings.
A highlight of the Preserve is the upcoming nine-hole par 3 short course, The Leaf, set to open later this year. It aims to appeal to a wider audience, including beginners and those seeking a more relaxed golf experience. This addition underscores the Preserve's commitment to inclusivity in golf.
Emphasizing environmental harmony, the Preserve coexists with a 144-acre uplands preserve, ensuring a serene golfing experience amidst native Florida flora and fauna. This commitment to nature extends to the larger Saltleaf community, which includes luxury living options like The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Estero Bay, and future developments such as a marina, dining venues, and nature trails.
Strategically positioned just north of Naples and a short drive from the Southwest Florida International Airport, the Saltleaf Golf Preserve not only enhances the local golfing landscape but also contributes to the area's recreational and cultural appeal. Its proximity to Bonita Springs and the region’s beaches positions it as an attractive destination for golfers and tourists alike.
