Manchester Airport Sets New Record
Manchester Airport has kicked off the year by marking January as its busiest month ever, a noteworthy achievement following its record-setting December. This trend underscores the airport's growing significance as a key travel hub in the region.
According to BreakingTravelNews, in January, Dubai emerged as the top destination, attracting winter sun seekers and serving as a crucial connector to other global locations. The airport's performance is anticipated to climb even higher in February, particularly during the school half-term holiday. An influx of almost 700,000 passengers is expected, with Tenerife and Alicante among the preferred destinations.
The airport's efficiency in passenger handling was evident, with January figures showing that 99.9% of travelers spent less than 15 minutes in security queues, and the majority waited under five minutes. Manchester Airport's Managing Director, Chris Woodroofe, highlighted the diverse travel opportunities available, thanks to the airport's extensive route network of around 200 destinations. This network facilitates convenient travel from the North to the world, offering choices ranging from Bolton to Bodrum and Bradford to Beijing.
The upcoming months are brimming with excitement for Manchester Airport, with the launch of new routes, including a direct flight to Las Vegas by Virgin Atlantic in June. This addition will position Manchester as the only English airport outside London with a direct route to America's West Coast. Additional forthcoming services include Royal Jordanian to Amman and Luxair to Luxembourg, along with an increase in flights to Beijing by Hainan Airlines to daily service.
January also marked one year since the commencement of the final phase of the airport's £1.3bn transformation program. The ongoing expansion of Terminal 2, set to double in size, is a significant part of this project. Once complete, the modernized terminal will cater to over 70% of the airport's passengers by 2025, boasting accolades such as the prestigious Prix Versailles for its architectural beauty.
As Manchester Airport continues to evolve, it not only enhances its capacity and service quality but also strengthens its position as a pivotal gateway for travelers in the North, offering an ever-expanding horizon of destinations.
