Lufthansa Elevates Business Class Dining with Exclusive German Bread Offerings
Lufthansa is redefining the culinary experience in its business class with the introduction of a new menu that includes a selection of breads, crafted specifically for the airline. This initiative highlights the rich German bread culture, which boasts over 3,000 varieties and is recognized as part of the German UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This gastronomic enhancement is a collaboration with Axel Schmitt, a renowned baker-sommelier and the World Baker of the Year 2022. The special breads, available exclusively on long-haul flights departing from Frankfurt and Munich, are hand-made daily using natural ingredients without additives. Lufthansa plans to refresh its bread selection quarterly, ensuring a constantly evolving palette of flavors.
Heiko Reitz, Lufthansa's Chief Commercial Officer, expressed pride in this latest enhancement, stating, "Our entire team is proud to present our newest business class experience, which, along with other culinary highlights such as the Lufthansa Aperitif Avionic, reflects the timeless elegance of our brand." This sentiment underscores the airline's commitment to elevating passenger experience through quality and innovation.
In addition to the new breads, Lufthansa is introducing other culinary delights, including the Aperitif Avionic, a signature pre-takeoff beverage crafted in partnership with Ziegler distillery and famed local bartender Sven Riebel. This drink features peach notes and wild meadow herbs, providing a refreshing start to the flight.
Vegetarian passengers will also find new options, such as an amuse-bouche selection featuring antipasti and sushi, enhancing the meal service. The dessert menu will now include fresh fruits, and depending on the flight length and time, passengers can enjoy a new modular snack offering, which includes a variety of snacks and treats.
Starting June 2024, as a parting gift, passengers will receive chocolates designed exclusively for Lufthansa by Lindt, adding a sweet note to the end of their journey. These new offerings are part of Lufthansa's 'Allegris' program, which represents a significant investment of €2.5 billion into upgrading the onboard experience across all cabin classes, aiming to set a new standard in air travel luxury and comfort.
